Drinking too much water can kill you?
Today we hear people call the 8x8 rule more often. Not only will we hear on television or in the hospital but also in the park in the supermarket or at the gas station. Everyone seem to know that drinking eight 8 ounce glass a day is a necessity if you want stay healthy.
But is that really the case? Does our body really need some water every day? Or is it just an invention aimed at us more careful with what we drink to?
Well scientist have finally come to a regular conclusion No matter how much water you drink every day as long as your body well moisturize and you do not feel the need to drink more. And after all there is no reason for this we all know that the human body is capable of making us aware of our shortcomings. we did not feel the need to eat when our stomach is empty? Or do not we start to shiver when we cold? It's the same with water we are thirsty when our body needs more fluids.
It is useless to fill our bodies with water because there is no need. It is actually a big reason why we should not do.
It is a known fact that there is too little water can lead to dehydration, and dehydration can easily kill. But Have you ever thought that too much water can also the same effect?
In the body of each there is a certain balance between the electrolytes minerals in the blood with the liquid that carries electrical charge and water. Once this balance has been destroyed can the life of that person in danger.
Doctors call this health problem,hyponatremia but it is commonly known as water intoxication. It may sound funny but it is a very serious disease which, if not treated properly and promptly it can lead to kidney failure and death.
How can it be? Well, when the amount of water the body is much higher than normal the amount of electrolytes to be too weak so an imbalance between these two would be inevitable.
And once the imbalance occurs, the person will start to muscle cramps, dizziness, nausea and even experienced convulsions. If these are not treated, they can lead quickly to death.
Therefore, water intoxication something that we often face? Is this something that we should try as much as we can avoid?
Well, fortunately for us, it is quite difficult to play tricks on a pair of healthy kidneys, even accidentally.
This means that the intoxication of water are not as common in people as they are on average in professional athletes. These are actually known to consume a greater quantity of water, but for good reason, right?
Well, the results of a study published in 2005 in the New England Journal of Medicine say that almost 1/6 of the participants of the 2002 Boston Marathon have experienced some degree of hyponatremia.
A further study published in the British Journal of Sports Magazine in 2006, argues that physical exercise are often associated with hyponatremia due to excess water.
In this article Timothy Noakes and Benjamin Speedy two sport medicine doctor claiming the biomedical community is in the process of admission of the risks of over-hydration in professional athletes.
However, these examples are not something we have to worry too much as they are very rare cases, average people. The most important thing is to drink a good amount of water after exercise or exertion, without exaggeration.
